This Privacy Policy sets out the practices of Taranaki Law relating to the collection and the use of personal information.

Taranaki Law is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. Any information disclosed to us about you and your affairs is confidential and privileged, and it is held in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993, Lawyers and Conveyancers Act Rules, and the common law.

The purposes for which we collect personal information from you is in order to provide legal services to you. We hold your information on a secure electronic database which is saved in the cloud.

This allows you to feel secure in the knowledge that you can fully disclose all information necessary to enable us to look after you interests without this information being disclosed to any third party. It is important that you are able to fully disclose all information to us as this will affect the quality of the legal advice we are able to provide you. We will discuss with you if we need to collect personal information about you from third parties and likewise it may be necessary to release information about your affairs to people outside out offices. For example, Accountant, Court Staff and other Lawyers. We will however obtain our consent prior to this and only provide information to the extent that is necessary.

Information may need to be passed on to other staff in our office. All staff are required to treat all information as confidential. Any breach of confidentiality will be treated very seriously by our office. If we hold particular sensitive information that you do not wish to be disclosed to any other member of staff, please advise your Solicitor.

You are entitled to access any information that we may hold about you and you may ask us to correct information held about you if it is incorrect. At Taranaki Law, we will take all care to ensure that your personal information is protected against loss, inappropriate access, unauthorised use or modification, or disclosure without your permission.

 

Internet

We do not collect personal information on this website unless you choose to give it to us.  There are a few places on the website where you can choose to give us personal information, such as emailing an enquiry to us. While we take reasonable steps to maintain secure internet connections, if you do provide personal information over the internet, the provision of that information is provided at your own risk.

We do not collect identifiable information about you if you only browse our website.  We do use cookies which are small text files allowing the website host to record the frequency that our website is being accessed and in what particular areas of the site.  We do this to improve our services.  We do not use cookies to retrieve identifiable information nor do we collect information not connected to our website.

Other than for reasons permitted under the Privacy Act 1993, we will only use personal information that you provide to us through this site for the purposes for which you supplied it.  We will not share your personal information with others unless it is necessary for those purposes.
